Network topology

The IEEE1394a standard makes it possible to build extensive networks with up to 63 nodes. The network topology is that of a bus with branches, but without loops.

The ION ANALOG INPUT T001 can be networked with tree or linear bus topology.

With the tree topology, two further bus nodes are connected to each bus node.

With the linear topology, one further bus node is connected to each bus node.

A maximum of 63 bus nodes can be connected. The maximum number of hops (point-to-point connections) from one bus node to any other is limited to 15. For this reason not more than 16 devices may be connected in series.
