The ION SIMATIC S7-300 T001 allows numeric data to be read out directly and cyclically from a SIMATIC S7-300 PLC and transferred to a higher-level industrial PC containing the SIPLUS CMS4000 X-Tools analysis software.
The ION SIMATIC S7-300 T001 requires free memory for its local data. If the memory space available within a project is too low, the size selected in the CPU properties dialog must be increased using HW Config.

The ION SIMATIC S7-300 T001 function block is integrated in the user program of the S7-300.
The Ethernet connection required for data transmission is established for the S7-300 using a SIMATIC CP.
The SIPLUS CMS4000 X-Tools analysis software is installed on the higher-level evaluation PC.
The data to be acquired from the SIMATIC S7-300 is selected by configuring the ION SIMATIC S7-300 T001 function block in the SIMATIC S7-300.
The function block is initialized in the startup OB of the PLC (OB100, OB101, OB102). For this purpose, the COM_RST parameter is set to TRUE. During initialization, the number of active channels is determined, the cycle time imported, and further calculations made for operation.
The FB is then executed passively in the program. Data exchange with the analysis software on the industrial PC only starts after being called in a time interrupt OB (e.g. OB35) by SIPLUS CMS4000 X-Tools. The data is visualized, analyzed and archived there.
From the point of view of X-Tools, the ION SIMATIC S7-300 T001 appears as an Ethernet device which communicates by means of UDP/IP.
The use of an ION SIMATIC S7-300 T001 function block enables transmission of max. 16 channels per recording cycle of the PLC. This corresponds to a data volume of 64 bytes. If this volume is insufficient, several function blocks can be used in the user program.
The number of channels and their content can be freely configured and combine several signals (e.g. 1 word signal and 16 bit signals).
